Metacognitive Therapy

What is Metacognitive Therapy?

Metacognitive Therapy is a form of psychotherapy with proven effectiveness in treating conditions such as stress, anxiety, and depression. The approach is based on the understanding that the way we respond to our thoughts about ourselves, our lives, and our symptoms can keep us stuck in distress.

Metacognitive Therapy provides practical tools to help in managing unhelpful thinking patterns and achieving greater calm, clarity, and well-being.

How does the therapy work?

Metacognitive Therapy focuses on addressing challenges and thought patterns that affect your life in the present moment. This means we do not delve into the past to explore possible underlying explanations.
Instead, we focus on practicing techniques that lead to noticeable changes.

What do I need to do myself?

Changing one’s thought patterns requires practice. Therefore, it is important to be prepared to work with exercises and techniques between sessions.

How long will I need to attend therapy?

Everyone is different, so the number of sessions required to achieve improvement cannot be determined in advance. However, Metacognitive Therapy is generally a short-term form of therapy that typically requires no more than 5–10 sessions. The greatest benefit from therapy is achieved by practicing the exercises provided between sessions.
